"MOVING TO ST. THOMAS Many people come to St. Thomas, stay at a vacation villa rental for a wonderful week in Paradise and dream of moving to St. Thomas whether it is for retirement, a few months out of the year or for a lifetime. Rental apartments are foremost on their mind. What is the housing market like on St. Thomas? How much are property rentals? You will be able to rent anything from a studio condo to that luxury vacation villa. But how do you find the housing you need? There are not many apartment complexes similar to the states. What St. Thomas has is condo complexes in a resort type setting. You can share your neighborhood with tourists, snowbirds and long term residents. You can rent a condo on the beach with all the amenities and live like you are on vacation. The majority of these property rentals are furnished with everything including dishes, linens and more. All you will need to do is bring your toothbrush and you will be set. Many homes here on St. Thomas are built into the hills and have two to three levels and often the bottom two levels will be apartments. Often these apartments are furnished apartments and some offer amenities such as a swimming pool. Most homes will have a view because the island is so hilly. You will have to decide what type of view you prefer, a down island view, harbor view, southern view or north shore view. A pre move visit (PMV) is recommended. This is a week or two stay in St. Thomas living like you would if you lived here. Go to the bank and stand in line, shop at the grocery store, drive your expected route to work and many of the other everyday things you do. Stay at a short term rental at a resort condo complex on the beach or look for a vacation rental in a residential neighborhood. If you don’t have the time to do this plan your move with the option of renting a short term rental when you first arrive. It is a good idea to plan to stay in a short term rental while you look for that “perfect” long term rental. There are several available and you can stay for a few weeks to a few months. You will want to see the place you will be living in on a long term basis. This is a small island but areas are very different. We have the north side which is cool and rainy and the south side which is warmer and drier. Proximity to work is important as traffic can be an issue. You wouldn’t think this small island has traffic jams but combine the small number of main roads with five cruise ships docked with passengers wanting to go to the beach or shopping and St. Thomians wanting to get to work and you have a traffic jam just waiting to happen. If you plan on purchasing a condo or a home contact a realtor to help you find the perfect place. Your realtor will be able to send you listings that fit your criteria and will be able to help you find the home that suits your needs. She will also be able to help you with things such as living expenses, areas, schools, and more. Click the link below to get started. Whether you come for a month, a year or a lifetime we wish you nothing but clear sailing.

Spend your vacation your way in your own private villa rental on the island of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Enjoy the year round trade winds cooling the lush tropical island surrounded by white sandy beaches. Spend your days at one of our magnificent beaches where you can snorkel in the clear turquoise waters or just lay on the sand and enjoy a tropical drink. Here in Paradise you will enjoy a Painkiller made with our famous Cruzan Rum.

Get more adventurous and try your hand at scuba diving and explore the exotic coral reefs and acquaint yourself with the numerous tropical fish. You may even see a sea turtle or a stingray. Bring your underwater camera and record your St. Thomas underwater adventure. If you like adventure on the water you can parasail, Jet Ski, or windsurf. The Caribbean Sea beckons and you can answer that call with a day sail on one of our many charter boats. Sail to a great snorkeling spot in the Caribbean Sea or take a power boat to the British Virgin Islands and explore the famous Baths at Virgin Gorda. Or take a ferry to Tortola for the day and try a swim with the dolphins. You will remember it forever.

Take the short twenty minute ferry ride to St. John and enjoy the pristine beaches on an island that is more than 50% national park. Get energetic and try a hike down the reef trail, see the petro glyphs and have a boat take you back to Cruz Bay.

Spend a day wandering the streets of Charlotte Amalie where people have been shopping since the 1600’s. As you explore the many alleys and shops you will be reminded of the places where pirates used to stop ashore and play. Shop, enjoy the art galleries, eat some local food and don’t forget to buy as much as you want. It is all duty free here in the Virgin Islands. Take a trek up to 99 steps to famous Blackbeard’s Castle. On the way you can stop at Denmark’s Haagenson House to see island living of an era gone by.

For you golfers you will love our seaside Mahogany Run Golf Course. Tell your golfing buddies you conquered the Devil’s Triangle while viewing the expansive and magnificent Atlantic Ocean.
