Coral World
Leave your Virgin Islands vacation villa and take a trip to Coral World and experience the magic of the Caribbean Sea below and above the water. The Caribbean's only underwater observatory is located 100 feet offshore. Walk down the stairs and you will be fifteen feet under water watching life in the Caribbean Sea. Stay completely dry and watch non captive sea life go about their daily activities on the coral reef. Children and adults alike will be mesmerized. Go up one level and watch the sharks, barracudas and other schooling fish in the Deep Reef Tank. This is only the beginning.
There are so many things to see at Coral World. The Caribbean Reef Encounter is an 80,000 gallon aquarium in the round. Enter this building and you will not believe the numerous fish you will see. Go outside and cross the courtyard. There is the Shark Shallows, one of the most popular exhibits, where you can view up close and personal one of the most talked about fish in the ocean. If you stick around for the shark feeding you will be able to pet a shark. Make your way to the Stingray Lagoon for a look at these beautiful and graceful creatures. These "masters of disguise" are sometimes hard to spot because they bury themselves in the sand. You will have a chance to feed and pet these gentle creatures. Just check the feeding schedule you will receive when you enter the park.
When was the last time you watched a sea turtle glide through the water? Stop by the Turtle Pool and you will get a chance to see some of the most graceful creatures under the sea. Sign up early for the turtle encounter and you will be able to get into the pool with the turtles and pet and scrub their shells.
The Marine Gardens consists of 21 jeweled aquariums. You will get a chance to see the natural habitat up close. Watch the seahorse float gracefully by, try to find a peacock flounder, see the jawfish standing vertically in their habitat, marvel at the eels and much more. Take a walk on the Nature Trail and see the native iguana, ducks and tortoises and stop by and watch the birds.
If this isn't enough you can stay for the Sea Lion Swim. That's right - get in the water and swim with the intelligent and comical sea lions. You will be able to touch, pet and play games with the four sea lions brought to Coral World from South America. End your encounter with a big KISS from the Sea Lion and take home the picture of a lifetime.
Or try Sea Trekkin, an underwater helmet diving experience. This is a walk on the ocean floor without the need for training a scuba diver needs. This guided tour of the ocean floor will last about 30 minutes and give you a lifetime of memories.
Coral World has something for everyone and when you want to rest and have a bite to eat there is a place to do that. Be sure to check the schedule and map you will receive when you arrive. Many of the exhibits have feeding times and you will want to be at the exhibit at that time. Bring your camera and have a great time at this world class aquarium.
Swimming with the Sea Lion
Coral World's Sea Lion Splash, a once -in-a lifetime chance to make waves with four fun- loving male sea lions. Imported from Uruguay, South America, these intelligent, cheerful creature enjoy company and attention. Kids as well as adults can hold on and go for a swim around the pool, play games and pet these gentle and sociable new pals. You'll get a hug and a big kiss goodbye at the end of your visit for the ultimate photo opportunity

We enjoyed our stay at your "Hideaway"-it provided us extra space while visiting our daughter, Alicia, who is a teacher at Antilles School. We were grateful to get to celebrate Thankgiving VI style (mmm- Mango Turkey) with her and leave the cold and snow of upstate New York. We found the apartment spacious. Well furnished, comfortable & convenient to our daughter place- just a hillside away. Thankyou for your gracious hospitality. |
